Painting the Figure from Life

workshop 4th-8th April 2016

Artists will stay at the beautiful domaine de  St Trapel www.trapel.com ,  which is very close to my studio. The stay will be from the Saturday 2nd -9th April and will 500 euros for the week, with breakfast included and your own double room.
The price for the workshop will be 400 euros, model included.
I will start with a demonstration the first morning.

Artists will paint from the model about 6.5 hrs per day
The workshop will be at my studio near carcassonne.

I have arranged a 3 day  figurative workshop 21-23rd September there is accommodation at the beautiful domaine de  St Trapel www.trapel.com which is very close to my studio.

Workshop 2015

Terrace du cafe le midi

This is the cafe that van Gogh painted in Arles under a streetlight

workshop 20 - 24 April

The workshop will start at 9:30 am until 12:30 - 2:00 - 5:30.
The first morning will begin with a demonstration in oil directly
from the model. Artists will then start their portraits in the afternoon.
There will be one pose per day, Six artists is the maximum, so there
is plenty of one to one help.

Materials needed :5 (preferably oil primed- enduit gras) canvasses, panels or supports

Basic colours: Cadmium Red medium, Yellow ochre, Ivory Black and Titanium White.
Optional colours: Cadmium Yellow medium, Ultramarine Blue, Transparent Oxide Red.

Lunch will be approx 5 euros each: Charcuterie ,Cheeses, Baguette, Salad ,Cake. Fruit,
Tea, Coffee.

Awakenings

Saint Remy hospital where Van Gogh stayed

Whilst visiting Avignon we stopped off in St Remy de Provence, a lively sunny town flanked by plane trees.It was here where Van Gogh spent one year, one week and one day of his final years. The purpose of which was to seek medical help for his probable frontal lobe epilepsy at the saint_paul asylum.
Passing the very same subject matter he did was surreal. Looking at his work , many pieces

spoke to me, even through his gauche manner. It reinforced my belief that an artist must have an emotion to convey.
