Saint Remy hospital where Van Gogh stayed
Whilst visiting Avignon we stopped off in St Remy de Provence, a lively sunny town flanked by plane trees.It was here where Van Gogh spent one year, one week and one day of his final years. The purpose of which was to seek medical help for his probable frontal lobe epilepsy at the saint_paul asylum.
Passing the very same subject matter he did was surreal. Looking at his work , many pieces
spoke to me, even through his gauche manner. It reinforced my belief that an artist must have an emotion to convey.

Workshop 24,25,26th May-Trouville 14360 France
I will be holding a workshop at La maison des associations, 58 Rue Guillaume le conquerer, 14360 Trouville sur mer the 24,25 and 26th May
There will be a demonstration by me on the first morning, painting directly from the model, you will start yourselves in the afternoon. Hours will be 9 until 5 pm with approx 6 to 6.5 hrs painting per day.
I will be there to help and advise throughout.
The price of the workshop is 260 euros for the three days. A 50% deposit is required to book a place the balance can be paid on the day either in euros or sterling.
Numbers limited to 15 artists. Possibility of single days at 100 euros per day per artist.
Easels and wite spirit are provided. My basic colour palette for portraits are: Titanium white, yellow ochre, cadmium red and Ivory Black. In addition I often use alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue, terra rosa, transparent oxide red, Cadmium yellow medium.
I use series 274. Masters Choice Flats mongoose brushes,6,8,10 and 12 from www.rosemaryandco.com/
and Series 2025. Chungking Long Flat . Oil primed linen canvas.

Anyone looking to improve their portrait/figure painting skills ?
Figure painting workshop near Carcassonne in the south of France. staying in the beautiful domaine de St. Trapel The course is five days Monday 7th to Friday 11th April. We will be working with a live model 6 hours per day. Starting with a demonstration on painting a portrait the first morning. It is limited to 6 people with a lot of one to one attention. It is suitable for those with experience in painting in oils to an intermediate level. The price for 5 days tutoring including model is 350 euros per person. There is a special discounted rate for those who sign up at the beautiful domaine de St Trapel of 500 euros for 7 nights, Breakfast included. Each with their own room and bathroom. What is great is if you aren't sure of a colour you just move nearer
the mirror. I used a daylight softbox so that the lighting was constant.
